Allergy & Asthma Care Doctors Taunton & Norwood MA

Our Doctors

Deborah Accetta Pedersen, MD, MS

Dr. Pedersen spent vacations as a child “working” at the front desk of Allergy and Asthma Care (she mostly ate donuts and played with the copier). After high school she spent the next 14 years moving around the country for college, medical school, and specialty training in pediatrics and then allergy and immunology. In 2011, after all of the moving she came home both to the Boston area and to Allergy & Asthma Care.

Dr. Pedersen is board certified in Allergy and Immunology as well as pediatrics. She has published articles on latex allergy and immune deficiency disease in children and has presented at several allergy and immunology national meetings. Her special interests include food allergy, asthma and immune deficiency. She currently serves on the boards of the New England Society of Allergy and the Massachusetts Allergy and Asthma Society. She speaks fluent Spanish and has done public health work in Bolivia.

In her free time, she likes to exercise, travel, garden, and run around after her 2 children. She has had first hand experience with food allergy and eczema as a mother . She no longer works the front desk at the office but she sill enjoys donuts occasionally.

Hormoz Solomon, MD

Dr. Solomon received his Bachelor’s degrees in Molecular and Cell Biology, and Modern Hebrew Literature from UC Berkeley before attending the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel-Aviv University in Israel. He met his future wife Deena in medical school and they trained in Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY together. After residency training, he worked as a general pediatrician for a year before returning to the same medical center for fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology. They then moved to Spokane, Washington where Dr. Solomon established the Allergy and Immunology Center at Rockwood Clinic, a multispecialty medical center, and then worked in private practice at Spokane Allergy and Asthma Clinic.

Dr. Solomon has participated in several research studies and has published articles and presented abstracts in the fields of immunology, asthma and allergies.

After 9 years in Spokane, the Solomons decided to return to the East Coast to be closer to family again. They have three children who keep them quite busy with soccer, basketball and ballet. He enjoys watching and playing basketball and reading the occasional cheesy John Grisham novel.

Alan Katz, MD

Dr. Katz received his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Northwestern University before attending St. Louis University School of Medicine. He then trained in Pediatrics at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital in Providence where he met his wife, Lisa, a RI native. After residency, Dr. Katz and Lisa moved to Pittsburgh, PA where Dr. Katz did fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Following fellowship training, Dr. Katz remained in Pittsburgh working as an allergist but one year later he and his wife (now with two young children) relocated to MA so they could be closer to family.

Dr. Katz joined Allergy Associates in N. Dartmouth, MA in 1995 and worked there for 29 years, serving as president of the group from 2019-2024. While at Allergy Associates, he also worked at New England Medical Research Associates (NEMRA) where he was involved in numerous asthma and allergy related clinical research studies.

Dr. Katz and his wife have three adult children and one granddaughter who coincidentally happens to have multiple food allergies. This has provided Dr. Katz with a wider perspective and greater appreciation for the challenges parents (and grandparents) face when dealing with this issue.  In his spare time, Dr. Katz enjoys kayaking, paddleboarding, pickleball, hiking and reading. And spending time with his family, of course.
