Our Doctors

Donald Accetta, MD, MPH

Dr. Accetta graduated from the University of Brussels Medical School in Belgium. He is board-certified in allergy and immunology. In addition to being an allergist, Dr. Accetta is also board-certified in pediatrics, and worked as a pediatrician for five years prior to his allergy training at the Cleveland Clinic. He founded Allergy & Asthma Care in 1988. He is a past president of both the Massachusetts Allergy and Asthma Society and the New England Society of Allergy. From 2004 to 2013, he was a member of the Board of Registration in Pharmacy for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He has published several articles on childhood asthma and is a coauthor of a chapter on occupational allergy in a textbook on occupational medicine.

Although he has cared for food allergic patients since he was a pediatrician, his understanding of food allergy changed once he had a grandson with an egg allergy. He enjoys traveling to other countries. He also enjoys trying to hit a golf ball on weekends.

Deborah Accetta Pedersen, MD, MS

Dr. Pedersen spent vacations as a child “working” at the front desk of Allergy and Asthma Care (she mostly ate donuts and played with the copier). After high school she spent the next 14 years moving around the country for college, medical school, and specialty training in pediatrics and then allergy and immunology. In 2011, after all of the moving she came home both to the Boston area and to Allergy & Asthma Care.

Dr. Pedersen is board certified in Allergy and Immunology as well as pediatrics. She has published articles on latex allergy and immune deficiency disease in children and has presented at several allergy and immunology national meetings. Her special interests include food allergy, asthma and immune deficiency. She currently serves on the boards of the New England Society of Allergy and the Massachusetts Allergy and Asthma Society. She speaks fluent Spanish and has done public health work in Bolivia.

In her free time, she likes to exercise, travel, garden, and run around after her 2 children. She has had first hand experience with food allergy and eczema as a mother . She no longer works the front desk at the office but she sill enjoys donuts occasionally.

Hormoz Solomon, MD

Dr. Solomon received his Bachelor’s degrees in Molecular and Cell Biology, and Modern Hebrew Literature from UC Berkeley before attending the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel-Aviv University in Israel. He met his future wife Deena in medical school and they trained in Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY together. After residency training, he worked as a general pediatrician for a year before returning to the same medical center for fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology. They then moved to Spokane, Washington where Dr. Solomon established the Allergy and Immunology Center at Rockwood Clinic, a multispecialty medical center, and then worked in private practice at Spokane Allergy and Asthma Clinic.

Dr. Solomon has participated in several research studies and has published articles and presented abstracts in the fields of immunology, asthma and allergies.

After 9 years in Spokane, the Solomons decided to return to the East Coast to be closer to family again. They have three children who keep them quite busy with soccer, basketball and ballet. He enjoys watching and playing basketball and reading the occasional cheesy John Grisham novel.
